Last year I had a really tough year teaching... I had so many behaviour issues with 5 and 6 year olds, yip 5 and 6! Unbelievable right?! Well after that year, totally believable! Its sad really, because a lot of the issues stem from the home backgrounds and you wish that you could fix that, but reality is you cant, so you struggle trying to do the best you can with the little time you have with these kids... On top of the ABCs and 123s, its all the other stufff you would hope they would come to school with, how to use the bathroom, how to interact with other children... and then there is trying to be a paediatrician/counsellor to some of these lil souls and trying to undo behaviours (swearing, fighting etc) that they have been conditioned to! All that on top of a few other work stressors paid a toll on this lil teacher!
I know every career has its ups and downs... But after the year I had in 2011, I was beginning to doubt my career choice! Then the roll number of our community dropped, meaning that the majority of schools in the area had to drop teachers... So all permanent teachers had to reapply for their jobs... But, I saw this as a good opportunity to possibly "free" myself up and seek a job elsewhere, perhaps in a different level, different decile, different area! But basically I have a job for the year... but its time to start looking...
Im not worried because I know that something will come up! I still have so many options.. Study? Take a yar off from teaching and try something else? In the meantime, I will begin looking for teaching jobs...

I thought you were with 7 year olds?
Good luck with your decision.
Teaching tough kids is the toughest.
You should just take the year off, go on the dole and become a profesional blogger?!?
Yip, teaching 7 and 8 year olds this year, 5 and 6 last year...
Hmmm... the dole... I dont know if I would get enough to cover the costs of my internet fee! Lol... It is an idea though!
