Linking The Family Through The Lord, Pt 2

In light of the last post I thought that I would mention the section 129 of the Doctrine and Covenants. This is only a short chapter but it deals with the subject of discerning spirits. Now there are 3 types outlined, and the prophet Joseph give us a key in being able to tell which each is. So I will leave you with the reference and hope that you will have a read so that you are familiar with the questioning.

So after we had all enjoyed the weekend up until Sunday afternoon, it was decided that while the boys went to the beach to play, all of the adults would go and visit the Urupa (cemetery) that had family members resting there.
The fence to the Urupa is on the far left.
We went to the first one which was down by the beach and we listened to Uncle Dave and Aunty Vi talk about the family and the people that were resting there. We were also shown the camping ground that only family from Wainui could use, so we will have to keep that in mind next time we go up those ways. You can see it in the background where all the family are standing.
We then went to look at land and places that belonged to the family and then on to another urupa in Kaeo. The were alot of Goultens and Stewarts that were buried there, which is the line that Ash is from.
Ash, Her Aunty and her Great Aunt.
Ash was busy the whole time, taking photos and asking questions so that she could link them in to the genealogy that she already knew. I was really impressed by how much Ash knew and I could tell that her Aunt and Uncle were too. The next day we also made a trip to the urupa that was on the marae grounds and saw some more of Ash's family. All this helped Ashaan to get more names to add to the list that she is already doing, from her family.
Ever since me and Ash have been married we have been keen to get into the family history and I think it is fair to say that we have captured the spirit of Elijah. I jumped at the chance to have a man in the ward help with Dad's (Wright) line and Ash got a whole lot of papers and family names that she has been working through. The trip helped her to put a lot of the pieces together so that she was clearer on who everybody was.
Our local Temple.
It has been wonderful to be now going to the temple and taking our own family names through. I don't think that I will ever have to take someone elses names through again. We have been going up almost twice a month and doing baptisms, initiators, endowments and sealings. Two weekends ago I got to baptize Ash for her female family members and then be baptized for her and my fathers male ancestors and then do the same when confirming them members and bestowing the gift of the Holy Ghost. It was a wonderful experience, and one that I love. I often pray to the Lord that they will accept this pearl of great price being presented to them, and hope that they will be humble enough to receive it fully.
I hope that you will get encouragement from this post, and continue to, or start to seek after your family, and rejoice in the chance to become saviors on mount Zion, and seal your family line and ancestors to you, in this life and for the next.
