Nil by mouth from 1am
Had to check in at hospital by 7am
So that means up at 5am
Leave Tok to get to Hamilton by around 5.30/5.45am
Planned to pick up crutches from 24 hr clinic beforehand
So what happens as we leave Tirau? Llews car starts to play up, battery light is on, car not feeling right, like it wants to cut out! Not good... nevertheless, we carry on and reach Hamilton. Get to the clinic to pick up crutches. I run in, Llew leaves engine running cos I should be in than out! Well, 5 minutes later, I'm out, car dead!!! Yip, DEAD!
So I'm like, crap, what the heck are we gonna do... First logical thing to do is call hospital and inform them that we have a car issue and will be there as soon as possible... so that was sweet as... lucky the nurse from the clinic was just knocking off and was able to give us a jump... so off we continued to the hospital... (So Llew had his hands tied with a car to sort out while I was under. Turns out it was the alternator. But that's really another story of it's own).
At the hospital...
I don't know what that face is... maybe the get out of my face face cos I'm freaking the flip out! |
Post op... As you can see, I'm still coming out of the anesthetic. And Llew, well I think he took something from the nurses station. LOL |
My bionic leg... This is the big range of motion brace I have to accessorise for the next couple of months. |
Have to say, out of surgery, no pain, that night, no pain, just tiredness and hungryness... nurses, surgeon and physio check in on me next day before discharge, still no pain... MAJOR BLESSING!!! After my last knee op, I was on morphine all night then the next night when I got home, I wanted back in the hospital from all the pain I was having. It was a nightmare...
So a week on, teency bit of pain crept in, but otherwise, all going well! I think the worst pain I have had has been nausea from the medication :P
Get my dressings changed tomorrow, so keep posted for the next update of the knee diaries!
